This is the start of a weekly series, examining the 2018 Arizona high school football season with top-10 lists.

First up are the dynamic duos, a tandem that puts pressure on defenses and offenses, who keeps teams from keying on one player.

Top 10 Dynamic duos

No. 1 RB Bijan Robinson, RB Mario Padilla, Tucson Salpointe Catholic

This backfield has been driving defensive coordinators crazy for two years now. Padilla is now a senior and Robinson, a junior, is one the West's most coveted tailbacks. Coach Dennis Bene can line up Padilla all over the place on offense. Both are hard to stop with both capable of amassing more than 100 yards a game.

No. 2 CB Kelee Ringo, DE Damian Sellers, Scottsdale Saguaro

A defensive coach's favorite saying is, "Pressure-pick, cover-sack," and Saguaro might have the best combo in the state at causing turnovers with long, strong, fast and athletic Ringo shutting down big-play receivers and Sellers applying the pressure off the edge.

No. 3 QB Jacob Conover, RB DeCarlos Brooks, Chandler

With Drake Anderson graduated, most of the running reps now to go Brooks, who showed last year how he impacts the game with the ball in his hands. Defenses have to be aware of the run game, which only opens up the pass for Conover, who is looking for his third consecutive 6A state championship as the team's starting quarterback.

No. 4 DL Ty Robinson, DE Jason Harris, Gilbert Higley

Robinson's recruiting has blown up as he continues to get bigger and stronger. Coach Eddy Zuby has flexibility with Robinson, who can line up at tackle or end on the defensive line. Harris will be playing his first football game in two years after missing last season because of an injury. When he gets going, he is almost impossible to block.

No. 5 DT Eloi Kwete, DE Cosmas Kwete, Phoenix Central

These senior twins should spend much of the season in the backfields of opponents. They combined for 65 tackles for losses and 20 sacks last season. They've only gotten faster and stronger and more adept at playing football after only having a rugby background before coming to Central.

No. 6 QB Jack Miller, WR Tommy Christakos, Scottsdale Chaparral

These two juniors have a special chemistry on the field and with a more dynamic offense that will also feature an explosive running attack, these guys should make big plays all over field as the Firebirds make the move up to 6A competition.

No. 7 QB Gunner Cruz, WR Khyheem Waleed, Queen Creek Casteel

Part of Casteel's first senior class, they are the two most recruited players in the school's short history. Waleed only played nine games last season when the Colts won the 3A title. Now, moving into 5A, Waleed, with a full season, is expected to take off with Cruz throwing to him after averaging 25 yards a catch.

No. 8 QB Trenton Bourguet, WR Tariq Jordan, Marana

Jordan is a beast at 6-foot-4, 211 pounds, and Bourguet is the guy to get him the ball. Jordan, also a talented defender, will see increased touches on offense. With his size and athleticism, new coach Louie Ramirez will try to create as many one-on-one situations as he can for the creative Bourguet to find Jordan.

No. 9 QB/WR D'Shayne James, QB Chubba Purdy, Gilbert Perry

Coach Preston Jones, the offensive mastermind, will have to figure out what to do at quarterback. It's a great problem to have. Does he return James, one of the state's best athletes, to quarterback, where he started the first three games two seasons ago before becoming a top go-to receiver for Brock Purdy? Or does the younger Purdy, who is even bigger, faster and has a stronger arm than his All-Arizona brother, take over the reins operating the offense? Either way, these are two of the team's best athletes and both will be involved in the offense.

No. 10 RB Jaydin Young, RB/LB D'Angelo Jackson, Peoria Centennial

Jackson, who is more of an H-back, went by Garcia last year. The only thing  that has changed is his last name. He is one of the most versatile athletes coach Richard Taylor has ever had on both sides of  the ball. Having Young, a talented safety, play some at tailback with a deep backfield could help absorb the loss of two-time All-Arizona RB Zidane Thomas and keep Centennial rolling to another championship.
