Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Coach Lewis attended Akron Garfield HS. Thomas attended the University of Indiana and during his career was named a first team All-Big Ten and 2nd team All-American receiver. He also was a punt and kick-off returner on the Hoosiers football team. In 1994, Coach Lewis entered the NFL Draft and was a first round pick, 24th overall, of the New York Giants. Coach Lewis was inducted into the Summit County Sports Hall of Fame in 2015 to celebrate his athletic and community accomplishments.
Coach Lewis has coached at North Canyon High School, Oaks Christian High School in Westlake, CA and most recently served as the Passing Game Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach at Chaparral High School.
Executive Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator - Conrad’s returns to Chaparral High School for his 9th year of coaching High School football after a year on Todd Graham’s Arizona State University Football Staff, where he served as Defensive Analyst. Coach Hamilton has held various titles and roles throughout his coaching tenure, including Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning Coach and Defensive Coordinator. Conrad earned his Bachelors of Science from Eastern New Mexico University, where he was a two-time All-American and Lone Star Conference Defensive Back of the year recipient. Coach Hamilton was inducted into ENMU’s Athletic Hall of Fame and recently was honored by his alma mater in retiring his “#13” jersey. Conrad’s extensive football background also includes a 6-year career as a professional football player in the National Football League. He was selected in the 7th round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the NY Giants where he played Cornerback from 1996 -2000, and finished his career with the Atlanta Falcons in 2001. The Hamilton family consists of Conrad, his wife Leah, his son Jordin, and daughters Kaysia, Isabella, Abiah and Maliah
Coach Germinaro is entering his 8th season as a Firebird and his 16th year coaching High School football. Coach Germinaro has coached at Bourgade High School and at Arcadia High School as the Varsity Offensive & Defensive Line Coach. He joined the Chaparral Coaching Staff in 2010 as the Freshman Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach, subsequently transitioning to the Freshman Head Coach position where he accumulated a 27-3 record. He works for the City of Scottsdale as the Youth Sports Coordinator and has over 16 years of experience working with children in a variety of Sports & Recreation programs in Scottsdale. Coach Germ has been married to his loving wife Sarah for 16 years; together they have two sons, Coleman and Lukas.
Coach Whitener is entering his 8th varsity coaching season and 2nd with Chaparral. Whitener was born and raised in Florissant, MO where he graduated from Hazelwood Central High School (2000). He went on to play collegiately at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. His college playing career included time on both sides of the ball; starting as a Strong Safety/ Linebacker and concluding as an All - GPAC Honorable Mention Running Back (2004). He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Corporate Communication (2005). Coach Whitener entered coaching upon his arrival to The Grand Canyon State. His coaching career included stops at Maryvale High School, North Canyon High School with current Head Coach Thomas Lewis, and with his longest tenure with Notre Dame Preparatory. Coach Whitener currently works as a Claim Supervisor at Repwest Insurance, a division of the Amerco family of businesses. Outside of coaching, he enjoys time with his 3 kids Davian (7), Karter (5), and Haidyn (2).
Coach Mindingall is entering his 2nd season on the Chaparral High School staff as a Wide Receiver coach and Equipment manager. Coach Mindingall retired from the US Marine Corps in 2013 and is a single parent of 3 boys and 1 daughter. Coach Mindingall attended Randolph High School in Randolph, NJ, where he won several awards each year as one of New Jersey best 110 High Hurdles. Coach Mindingall received several D1 offers for Track and Football. Coach Mindingall played football in Japan and trained for the 1996 Olympics in the 110 High Hurdles while serving his 22 years in the Marine Corps. Mike began his football coaching career 14 years ago coaching youth football in California before coaching at Rancho Christian High School in Temecula, Ca as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. He had the pleasure to coach with Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos, Byron Chamberlin of the Denver Broncos, Travis Davis from Jacksonville Jaguars, Ben Coleman of Jacksonville Jaguars and four-time 400 meter Gold medalist Tyree Washington. Coach Mindingall then served as Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receiver coach in Long Beach at Lakewood High School. Coach Mindingall believes in motivating young athletes on and off the field and never giving up on a player.
Coach Lynn is in his third year of coaching High School football at Chaparral High School. He is currently a student at ASU majoring in Sociology. Coach Lynn attended Cactus Shadows High School where he played Fullback.
Coach Williams returns for his third year coaching at Chaparral High School. Originally from San Francisco but raised in Arizona, Coach Williams attended Highland High School in Gilbert where he was a 3-year varsity starter as a shooting guard for the basketball team and played QB & OLB on the football team. He also earned 2-time All-Conference selections in basketball. Coach Williams coached youth football for 6 years before joining the Chaparral freshman staff in 2015 where he coached LB & RB. Jared has an undergraduate degree in Finance and currently works at ORION Investment Real Estate in Scottsdale, specializing in Multi-Tenant Retail Investment Sales.
Safeties Coach Gilliam is entering his 7th season as a varsity high school football coach and 5th season as a coach at Chaparral, where he assists in the defensive secondary with a focus on the safeties. Dubois was raised in McLean, VA until high school when his family moved to Selma, AL. While attending Selma High School Coach Gilliam played football under Alabama High School and College Football Hall of Famer Woodrow Lowe. Coach Gilliam went on to play safety in the Southeastern Conference at Auburn University (War Eagle!) under Coach Terry Bowden and legendary Defensive Coordinator Bill “Brother” Oliver. Coach Gilliam graduated from Auburn in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. Coach Gilliam currently works as a Resource Delivery Manager for a premier Information Technology Strategic Solutions provider and is married to Alisha Gilliam of Gilbert, Arizona. They have 5 kids Shaylin, Hailey, Karissa, Brianna, and Cameron.
Outside Linebackers – Coach Kahn was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Harriton High School in Rosemont, PA where he was an all-league inside linebacker. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Coach Kahn taught 6th grade in Phoenix for 6 years. He is currently a sales representative in North Phoenix. This is his 5th year on the Firebirds coaching staff, previously serving as the Outside Linebackers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. He also coached inside linebackers at North Canyon High School. Before his high school experience, Andrew coached football at the youth level for 3 years. He recently married Alexandra. Coach Kahn is looking forward to helping the Chaparral Firebirds achieve greatness during the 2017 football season.
Coach Germinaro has been part of the Firebird family for eight years following his “little” brother around and finally joining the coaching staff last year. Originally from Connecticut, but raised in Arizona, Coach Germinaro attended Deer Valley High School where he played football and learned how important the athletic trainer is. Coach Germinaro is currently continuing a long and successful career in the automotive field. Coach Germinaro has been married to his loving and understanding wife Renae for 20 years; together they have two teenage daughters, Jenna and Mia.
Offensive Assistant - Coach Trace is entering his 8th season coaching with Chaparral High School where he also graduated in 2009. In his time as a player here at Chaparral, he was a 3-year varsity player in two sports, Football and Wrestling. He began coaching after high school on Coach Charlie Ragle’s staff where he was a part of the state champion staff in 2009, 2010, 2011. Trace is engaged to his Fiancé Krissy and is excited about the future, football, and life!
